Nimbus 4D 3,3m
The Nimbus 4D in 1:8 scale is a remote control sailplane with the wing span of 3.31m. The wing is slim which makes the sailplane more difficult to control. It is very sensitive to adjustments at high speed. Nimbus 4D is suitable for thermal and slope soaring. Its shape, elacticity and deflection of the wing make it look very realistic when flying. It is also successfully flown in aerobatics. The wing does not have flaps.
The fuselage of Nimbus 4D is made of fiberglass. The cockpit is equipped with two moulded seats.
The wing is a composite of styrofoam, fiberglass, and balsa, all covered with white iron-on ORACOVER foil. To ensure extra firmness the wing spar is produced in special negative moulds of glass rovings. The elevator is made of balsa.
Standard equipment of Nimbus 4D 3.31m includes Schempp-Hirth airbrakes. If desired, retractable landing gear or an airtow release mechanism can be added as optional equipment. The model has the original true scale sailplane livery applied. If the customer wishes, the colour of the standard decals can be changed or these can be completely custom made.
With basic equipment, the model requires six (6) servos, i.e., elevator, rudder, ailerons and airbrakes. Two (2) extra servos are then needed for the operation of the retractable landing gear and airtow release mechanism.
